About time: Finding the age of everything: Stellar dating involves measuring properties such as mass, chemical composition and temperature, and comparing them with models of how those properties should change over time for a particular type of star. One problem is that many of these models are calibrated by reference to the one star whose age and characteristics we can measure independently – our sun. "That can make you a little uneasy," says Meibom.
